On March 28, Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives Wang Lixin and Maldivian Minister of Health Abdulla Khaleel signed an exchange of notes on establishing a China-aided project of laboratory equipment for the Maldivian health centers.
Wang noted that Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu's recent visit to China led to the elevation of bilateral ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation. She said that China is ready to join hands with the Maldives to take the president's successful visit to China as an opportunity to facilitate early implementation of the lab equipment assistance project, and to strive for more results from the pragmatic cooperation between the two countries to benefit the Maldivian people in a broader way.
The Maldivian side thanked China for its support and assistance to the country in the healthcare sector, saying the project will significantly enhance the healthcare capacity of the Maldives, benefiting its residents. They also raised hope for further cooperation with China in this regard.
The project was initiated by the China International Development Cooperation Agency. Officials from the Chinese Embassy in the Maldives, the Maldivian Ministry of Health and Foreign Ministry also attended the signing ceremony.
