The Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh recently launched this year's Chinese Government Training Programs in Dhaka, the country's capital city. Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen attended and addressed the inauguration ceremony. Deputy Director-General of the Department of International Cooperation of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) Meng Ran attended the event via video link upon invitation and delivered remarks.
The inauguration ceremony brought together more than 140 representatives of Bangladeshi government departments, Chinese institutions providing training programs and media outlets.
In his address, Yao said China will carry out more than 500 training programs in Bangladesh in 2024, a record high. The programs cover multiple key bilateral cooperation areas such as financing matters, investment promotion, agricultural product processing, and Customs services.
China will strive to do a good job in implementing those programs with joint efforts from the Bangladeshi side, and provide more opportunities for Bangladesh to attend exchange and training programs in China, so as to enhance the friendship between the two peoples, Yao said.
The Bangladeshi representatives spoke highly of the Bangladesh-China cooperation and thanked China for its help to Bangladeshi socioeconomic development, saying that they will support the China-aided training programs and promote communication and mutual learning between the two sides.
Meng introduced China’s concepts and achievements on foreign assistance human resources development and cooperation over the past 70 years and the outcomes of the Chinese training programs in Bangladesh.
She said that under the framework of the Global Development Initiative, the Chinese side will align with Bangladesh's Vision 2041, share the concepts and practices of the Chinese path to modernization, and support Bangladesh in exploring a path for sustainable growth consistent with its own reality.
China will also promote bilateral strategic cooperative partnership with Bangladesh to a new level, and contribute its strength to accelerating the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, she added.
