On April 22, 2024, Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) Luo Zhaohui met with Federal Minister for Economic Affairs of Pakistan Ahad Khan Cheema during his visit to the country.
Luo affirmed the iron-clad friendship between China and Pakistan, which is all-weather and all-dimensional. China is ready to join hands with Pakistan to jointly implement the key consensus reached between the leaders of the two countries, build the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor to a high standard, combine the building of landmark major projects and "small yet smart" people's livelihoods projects, strengthen communication in state governance experience, and advance cooperation in various fields to jointly develop the bilateral ties with brighter prospects, he said.
He also urged the Pakistani side to take effective measures to ensure the safety of Chinese citizens and enterprises in Pakistan.
Cheema thanked the Chinese government for its long-term support for and assistance to the economic and social development and the improvement of the people's livelihoods in Pakistan. He pledged to continue deepening cooperation with China in various fields, jointly build the upgraded version of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor while aligning with its own development plans in order to benefit more Pakistani people. He also pledged to protect the safety of the Chinese brothers in Pakistan by every possible means.
The two sides also held in-depth exchanges on specific cooperative matters including the implementation of the post-flood reconstruction work in Pakistan.
Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong, along with other officials from China's Foreign Ministry, as well as officials from the Pakistani Planning Commission and Ministry of Economic Affairs, also attended the meeting.
