CIDCA vice-chairman meets with secretary general of IFRC

On May 7, 2024, Vice-Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) Zhao Fengtao met with visiting Secretary General of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) Jagan Chapagain. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening bilateral cooperation.

Zhao said that emergency humanitarian assistance has always been a key area of China's foreign assistance and international development cooperation. Highly in sync in their visions, the CIDCA and the IFRC are natural cooperation partners, he said, expressing willingness to deepen policy dialogue and pragmatic cooperation with the IFRC in such fields as emergency humanitarian assistance, climate change response, capacity building and personnel exchanges, in a bid to jointly implement the Global Development Initiative (GDI) and build a community with a shared future for mankind.

Chapagain spoke highly of the key role China, especially the CIDCA, has played in international humanitarian undertakings. He said that the IFRC is ready to deepen all-round cooperation with the CIDCA, actively implement the GDI by participating in activities under its framework to jointly help countries in need, and strive for a better future for mankind.
