On May 7, 2024, Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) Luo Zhaohui met with Serbian Minister of European Integration Tanja Miščević in Belgrade when he accompanied Chinese president on a visit to the country. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening China-Serbia development assistance and cooperation and implementing the Global Development Initiative (GDI).
Luo said that Serbia is China's first comprehensive strategic partner in Central and Eastern Europe, and the two countries enjoy ironclad friendship. China-Serbia relations have achieved leapfrog development under the strategic guidance and with personal attention of the two heads of state, yielding fruitful results in development assistance and cooperation, according to Luo. The CIDCA, as China's agency responsible for foreign assistance and international development cooperation, is ready to strengthen communication with Serbia to jointly implement the consensus reached between the leaders of the two countries, deepen pragmatic cooperation, and strive for new results in the Belt and Road cooperation and GDI implementation, he said.
Miščević thanked China for its long-term support to Serbian social and economic development. She said that Serbia highly values its friendship with China, attaches great importance to the GDI and the Belt and Road cooperation, and is ready to share its experience in state governance with China and expand cooperation in development assistance in a bid to push the bilateral ties to new heights.
The two sides exchanged views on specific cooperation matters.
Luo also met with Serbian officials of internal affairs, visited China-aided projects and held symposiums with related enterprise representatives.
