The second high-level conference of the Forum on Global Action for Shared Development was held from July 11 to 13 in Beijing.
On the final day of the conference, Yang Weiqun, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), addressed a sub-forum themed "Shared global youth responsibilities in the digital era", which was jointly hosted by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) and the Beijing Youth Entrepreneurs Association.
Yang said China attaches great importance to international development cooperation in digital and youth-related areas. The CIDCA has been actively carrying out bilateral and trilateral cooperation in human resource development in such areas as the digital economy, digital education, and digital communication, and has established the "global development young leaders' home" to support the action plan for global youth development and foster leadership for sustainable development in the digital era, he added.
Yang said he hopes that, in the face of the opportunities and challenges of the digital age, young people around the world would actively implement the Global Development Initiative and cultivate a global perspective, be bold in innovation, and enhance exchanges and mutual learning. By engaging in more meaningful and effective participation, they can find solutions to the various challenges of the digital era and realize outstanding achievements, he said.
More than 300 delegates participated in the sub-forum, with an online audience of nearly two million people. Government ministers from nearly 20 countries, heads of international organizations, foreign diplomats in China and representatives of young entrepreneurs also had in-depth discussions on the topic of global youth responsibilities in the digital age.
