Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) Luo Zhaohui met with Myanmar's Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Kan Zaw on July 13.
Kan was in Beijing to attend the second high-level conference of the Forum on Global Action for Shared Development. CIDCA’s Vice-Chairman Yang Weiqun and Director-General of the First Department of Regional Affairs Shou Hailong, as well as Ambassador of Myanmar to China U Tin Maung Swe, also attended the meeting.
Luo thanked Kan for attending the forum for two consecutive years, saying that China and Myanmar enjoy a profound friendship and have been good neighbors for generations, as well as good partners for win-win cooperation. China has always viewed and developed its relations with Myanmar from a strategic perspective and supports Myanmar in exploring a development path that suits its own national conditions with its own characteristics. The historic visit by the Chinese president to Myanmar in 2020 brought China-Myanmar relations into the new era of building a community with a shared future, and the CIDCA is ready to join hands with Myanmar to fully implement the key consensus reached between the leaders of the two countries, further deepen cooperation and consolidate the China-Myanmar community with a share future, in a bid to bring tangible benefits for people in both countries, he added.
Noting that Myanmar attaches great importance to its relations with China, Kan thanked China for its long-term support in Myanmar's economic and social development, as well as the improvement in people's livelihoods. Kan said he hoped China will continue to share development opportunities with Myanmar under the frameworks of the Belt and Road Initiative and the Global Development Initiative (GDI), deepen pragmatic cooperation in various fields, and jointly build a Myanmar-China community with a shared future.
Yang also held detailed discussions with Kan on implementing the GDI and strengthening bilateral cooperation.
