Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) Luo Zhaohui met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Works and Water Resources of Barbados Santia JO Bradshaw in Beijing on July 13.
Bradshaw was in China to attend the second high-level conference of the Forum on Global Action for Shared Development.
Luo thanked Bradshaw for attending and delivering a speech at the conference. Noting that Barbados was the first country in the Eastern Caribbean region to establish diplomatic ties with China, Luo said the two countries have developed friendly relations under the strategic guidance of their leaders, yielding fruitful results in pragmatic bilateral cooperation. China is ready to work with Barbados to jointly implement the consensus reached between the leaders of the two countries, further enhance cooperation in such areas as agriculture, infrastructure and new energy, and jointly promote the Global Development Initiative for common development, he added.
Bradshaw congratulated China on the successful holding of the conference, and said Barbados has always regarded China as a trustworthy cooperation partner. She thanked China for its long-term support for Barbados’ economic and social development, and pledged full support for and participation in the China-proposed global initiatives. Specifically, she expressed the hope to strengthen coordination with China on development financing, climate change response and green development.
The two sides held in-depth discussions on specific cooperation projects and signed an agreement on economic and technological cooperation. CIDCA Vice-Chairman Liu Junfeng, Director-General of the CIDCA's Second Department of Regional Affairs Bai Bin, and acting Director-General of the CIDCA's Department of International Cooperation Li Ming, as well as Barbados’ Ambassador to China Hallam Henry, also attended the meeting.
