Zhao Fengtao, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Juan Carlos Salazar, secretary-general of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), in Beijing on Aug 13. The two sides discussed cooperation in civil aviation.
Zhao noted the Chinese government attaches great importance to civil aviation, and that the CIDCA has carried out a significant number of projects in that field with fruitful outcomes. The CIDCA stands ready to deepen and expand partnership with the ICAO, strengthen trilateral cooperation in areas such as infrastructure, capacity building, standard formulation and development planning, in a bid to jointly enhance civil aviation in developing countries and advance the implementation of the Global Development Initiative and the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in an integrated manner, he said.
Salazar thanked China, especially the CIDCA, for its long-term support for the ICAO and international development cooperation in civil aviation. He said he wanted to use his visit as an opportunity to enhance communication with the CIDCA, facilitate the thorough implementation of cooperation projects, jointly promote the restoration and development of the global civil aviation industry, and strive to achieve the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.
