China delivered a batch of emergency food assistance to Zimbabwe on Aug 22. Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe Zhou Ding attended the handover ceremony.
Affirming the brotherly friendship that exists between China and Zimbabwe, Zhou said that, when President Mnangagwa declared a state of national disaster over the El Nino-induced drought, the Chinese government acted immediately and arranged a new batch of emergency food assistance to support the people of Zimbabwe.
Mnangagwa thanked the Chinese government for providing emergency food assistance to meet his country's urgent needs, saying that, with the help of sincere partners like China, he believes Zimbabwe will overcome the disaster in the near future.
Around 100 people, including several Zimbabwean ministers and senior officials, as well as representatives of beneficiary organizations, attended the event.
