The Liberian government held a groundbreaking ceremony for the China-aided expansion project of the Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS) on Aug 16. President of Liberia Joseph Boakai and Chinese ambassador to the country Yin Chengwu both addressed the ceremony.
Boakai thanked China for its support, saying that China is a good friend and partner of Liberia. He hailed the project as a model of infrastructure and technical assistance that demonstrated China's commitment to supporting Liberia's development. Liberia will make good use of the project to provide better services in news, information and education to its people and promote the progress of various undertakings, he added.
Yin described the project as a milestone in the history of the LBS and an important propeller for deepening China-Liberia friendship and cooperation. It will play a key role in meeting the intellectual and cultural needs of the Liberian people and promoting social progress, he added.
