CIDCA chairman meets with Comorian president

Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) Luo Zhaohui met with Comorian President Azali Assoumani in Beijing on Sept 2. Comorian Foreign Minister Mbae Mohamed, Minister of Economy Moustoifa Hassani Mohamed, and Comorian Ambassador to China Maoulana Charif, as well as CIDCA Vice-Chairman Zhao Fengtao, also attended the meeting.

Azali is in Beijing to attend the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).

China and the Comoros enjoy a traditional friendship, which is a good example of solidarity and cooperation between countries of different sizes, Luo said.

The heads of state of China and the Comoros have announced the elevation of their bilateral relations to a strategic partnership, charting the course for the future development of bilateral ties, Luo noted.

The CIDCA stands ready to work with the Comorian side to jointly implement the consensus reached between the two heads of state, take the FOCAC summit as an opportunity to deepen development cooperation in areas such as infrastructure, marine fisheries, healthcare and human resources, in a bid to help the Comoros achieve the “Emerging Plan" (PCE 2030), he added.

Azali thanked China for its hospitality, saying he was very pleased to attend the summit and meet the Chinese president. The Comoros firmly supports the one-China principle, as well as the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative, Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative and Global Civilization Initiative, he said. He thanked China for its support in the Comoros’ economic and social development and improvements in people’s living standards. Azali said he looks forward to deepening development cooperation with China, expanding exchanges of state governance experiences, and building Comoros-China relations into an example of Africa-China cooperation.

Witnessed by Azali, Luo signed a bilateral cooperation agreement with Mbae.
