Luo Zhaohui, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Vice-President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) Sir Danny Alexander on Sept 18.
Noting that the AIIB was the first multilateral financing institution to sign a memorandum of understanding on cooperation with the CIDCA, Luo said that the bank has become a major cooperation partner of the agency. The two sides have been proactively promoting tripartite cooperation under the Global Development Initiative (GDI) framework, with the first project soon to be debuted, Luo pointed out, expressing hopes for the further expansion of cooperation routes with the AIIB to help other developing countries address financing challenges in their development, and play a positive role in promoting the implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Alexander lauded the CIDCA’s efforts in expanding cooperation partners and innovating cooperation models, which has played a positive role in promoting high-quality international development cooperation. Pointing out that mixed financing is the future trend of international development cooperation, he said he looks forward to deepening cooperation with the CIDCA to jointly promote the synergy of development resources from multiple entities and inject new impetus into global development.
The two sides also held thorough discussions on specific cooperation projects. Vice-Chairman of the CIDCA Zhao Fengtao, head of the CIDCA’s Global Development Promotion Center Tang Ying, Director-General of the CIDCA’s Department of International Cooperation Li Ming, and Director-General of the AIIB's Strategy, Policy and Budget Department Zheng Quan also attended the meeting.
