China-themed plenary of 2024 National Evaluation Capacities Conference held in Beijing

A China-themed plenary of the 2024 National Evaluation Capacities Conference was held in Beijing on Oct 14 with the theme of "Evaluation advances Chinese modernization."

Vice-Minister of Science and Technology Qiu Yong, Vice-Minister of Ecology and Environment Zhao Yingmin, Deputy Commissioner of the National Bureau of Statistics Ruan Jianhong, Vice-Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency Liu Junfeng, Deputy Secretary-General of the National Development and Reform Commission Zhang Shixin, and Director-General of the Department of Accountability Audit of the National Audit Office Cui Zhenlong gave introductions to evaluation work from the perspectives of self-reliance and self-improvement in science and technology, the building of a Beautiful China, statistics and surveys on poverty alleviation, evaluation of foreign aid, macroeconomics, and audit supervision, respectively.

Deputy head of the Development Research Center of the State Council Long Guoqiang introduced China's practices, experience and outcomes in implementing the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development as a think tank representative. Chairman of the China International Engineering Consultation Corporation Gou Husheng introduced the company's participation in the evaluation of major national projects as a corporate representative.

Their speeches were well received by the 500-plus attendees. All parties spoke highly of China's efforts in theoretical and practical innovations in evaluation work in various fields, and expressed willingness to work with China to contribute to the realization of the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
