China-aided antimalarial drugs arrived in Moroni, capital of Comoros, on Oct 20, as part of an emergency assistance practice.
Chinas Ambassador to Comoros Guo Zhijun and Comoros' Health Minister Nassuha O Salim attended the handover ceremony.
Guo said China attaches great importance to bilateral medical and health cooperation with Comoros, and is willing to assist Comoros in achieving the goal of the "total elimination of malaria by 2025". The emergency assistance of antimalarial drugs will hopefully contain the spread of the disease in the country, protect the health of the people and facilitate the building of a China-Comoros health community, he added.
Salim thanked China for its long-term support to the economic and social development of his country, especially in the medical and health sector. Comoros will make good use of the China-aided drugs, striving to achieve the goal of eliminating malaria by 2025 as soon as possible and safeguard the well-being of its people, he said.
