Luo Zhaohui, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Anacláudia Rossbach, executive director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), in Beijing on Oct 24.
Luo provided a rundown on China's efforts in housing and urban development under the Global Development Initiative (GDI) framework. He said that the CIDCA shares the same principles and goals as UN-Habitat, and is willing to strengthen institutionalized cooperation with the body, deepen policy dialogue and practical project cooperation, enhance personnel exchanges, and share resources, experience and platforms, to jointly advance the implementation of the GDI and the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Rossbach said China has made inspiring progress in promoting global development, especially South-South cooperation and trilateral cooperation. UN-Habitat regards the CIDCA as an important cooperation partner, and is willing to expand and upgrade the partnership, strengthen cooperation in areas such as effective economic recovery, climate change response and urban governance with a focus on Asia and Africa, and jointly realize the visions of "housing for all" and sustainable urban development, she said.
Vice-Chairman of the CIDCA Zhao Fengtao, Director-General of the CIDCA's Department of International Cooperation Li Ming, and UN-Habitat's Regional Representative for Asia and the Pacific Kazuko Ishigaki also attended the meeting.
