Vice-Chairman of the CIDCA Zhao Fengtao, Pakistani Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi, Maldivian Ambassador to China Fazeel Najeeb, and President of the Communication University of China Zhang Shuting addressed the event. Scores of representatives from foreign diplomatic missions and United Nations agencies in China, related government departments, people's organizations, academic institutions and think tanks, as well as China-aided trainees attended the event.

In his speech, Zhao noted the remarkable progress achieved in China's foreign assistance and international development cooperation under the framework of the Global Development Initiative (GDI), ranging from major signature projects to small-yet-smart livelihood projects. The cooperation mechanisms have been diversified, with development resources continuously converged and cooperation platforms upgraded, yielding more and more "rose stories", he said.

This volume vividly tells stories of China's foreign assistance in fields such as poverty alleviation, infrastructure, education and training, displaying the friendship between Chinese people and people around the world to help each other and work together for development, and demonstrating the Communist Party of China's commitment to working for the progress of mankind and the common interests of the world, he said.

China will work at maximum capacity to honor its promise of increasing investment in global development cooperation resources, advance the Belt and Road cooperation with high quality, fully implement the GDI, accelerate the upgrading of international development cooperation with a focus on common South-South development, and strive for new achievements in the building of a community with a shared future for mankind, he concluded.

The new volume of Rose Stories Along the Belt and Road was compiled by the CIDCA. It consists of seven chapters with 72 stories of China's foreign aid and international development cooperation in the process of serving high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and implementing the GDI.

Foreign diplomats applauded the successful launch of the book, and lauded China's long-term efforts in improving infrastructure and providing intellectual and technological support to other developing countries, bringing benefits to millions of people worldwide. They are looking forward to strengthening cooperation with China for common development and prosperity, they said.

Foreign trainee representatives shared stories of learning in China at the event, and said that the stories in the new book are about China's training and other assistance programs that have improved the lives of people in Asia, Africa and Latin America.

It is a testimony to the profound friendship between China and other developing countries, they said, pledging to share China's experience with more people and promote China's international friendship.
