The opening ceremony of a green development and innovation training program for African countries, jointly implemented by the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) and Germany's international development department, was held in Beijing on Nov 15.
This project is the first joint training program carried out by China and Germany under the framework of the Global Development Initiative to implement the bilateral three-year action plan aimed at strengthening international development cooperation. As a measure to implement the 10 partnership action plans proposed at the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, the project is expected to help African countries achieve green development and accelerate the implementation of the United Nations' 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Experts from China and Germany will jointly teach on topics such as low-carbon green circular economy and natural resource management. Thirty-five forestry officials from six African countries, including South Africa, Botswana and Ethiopia, and the African Union will participate in the training. Representatives from the CIDCA, China's Ministry of Commerce, National Forestry and Grassland Administration, as well as Germany's international cooperation agencies and the German Embassy in China attended the opening ceremony.
In June 2023, during Chinese Premier Li Qiang's visit to Germany, the CIDCA and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development signed a bilateral three-year action plan for strengthening international development cooperation (2023-2026), agreeing to carry out human resources joint training in areas such as green economy and renewable energy development.
