Zhao Fengtao, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), spoke at the conference marking the 75th anniversary of the founding of China Women's University (CWU) in Beijing on Nov 16.
Zhao congratulated the university on its 75th anniversary and lauded the university's efforts in carrying out international exchanges and cooperation on women's affairs and fostering thousands of extraordinary female talents for nearly one hundred countries. It has built bridges for mutual learning among different civilizations and created a widely acclaimed brand name for China in advancing the global women's cause, he said.
He added the CIDCA attaches great importance to international development cooperation in women’s affairs. In April 2024, the CIDCA and the All-China Women’s Federation (ACWF) jointly unveiled the training base for global women development cooperation at the CWU. The agency has invited more than 120 female officials from nearly 30 countries to China for training programs, and trained over 60 female talents from developing countries in master's programs at the base.
Looking ahead, the CIDCA will continue to support the development of global women's cause with increased resource investment in both the CWU and the training base, Zhao noted. Projects will be expanded with more input in women's development cooperation and the CWU will be encouraged to participate in the design and implementation of women development-related assistance projects. More efforts will be made to innovate ways to bridge the global digital gender divide and actively carry out women's digital empowerment initiatives. The CIDCA will strive to build the training base into a platform for women's development cooperation with international influence, bringing together a cross-cultural and trans-regional network for international women's cooperation, he concluded.
Vice-Chairwoman of the ACWF Huang Xiaowei, Vice-Mayor of Beijing Ma Jun, and Party Secretary of Communication University of China Liao Xiangzhong also attended and addressed the event.
