A ceremony marking the delivery of emergency food assistance from the Chinese government to Guinea-Bissau was held on Nov 26. Chinese Ambassador to Guinea-Bissau Yang Renhuo and Guinea-Bissau's Minister of Women, Family and Social Solidarity Maria Inácia Có Mendes Sanhá attended the event.
Yang said that China provides food assistance to Guinea-Bissau to help the country better address the food crisis and ensure people's livelihoods and economic development. China has provided food assistance to Guinea-Bissau three times and has dispatched agricultural technology expert teams to the country on a long-term basis, he said. China is willing to continue working with Guinea-Bissau to help the country develop its economy and improve people's livelihoods, and to contribute to deepening the China-Guinea-Bissau strategic partnership and the building of a China-Africa community with a shared future, he added.
Sanhá expressed sincere appreciation to China for the assistance and pledged to properly and efficiently use the food and distribute it to the people in greatest need as soon as possible.
