Luo Zhaohui, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Carsten Staur, chair of the Development Assistance Committee (DAC) of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), in Beijing on Dec 10.
Luo spoke highly of the OECD's role in promoting international development cooperation, saying that, despite differences in development processes and characteristic advantages, the two sides share the same goals and concepts in terms of advancing global common prosperity via development cooperation. The CIDCA attaches importance to cooperation with the OECD, and is ready to promote mutual learning with the DAC on the basis of mutual respect, he said. The CIDCA hopes to work with the DAC to strengthen policy dialogue, explore trilateral and multilateral cooperation, support each other's activities and explore personnel exchanges in such areas as development financing, monitoring and evaluation, and data statistics, so as to advance the implementation of the Global Development Initiative and the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, he added.
Staur lauded China's leading role in advancing South-South cooperation. He said that the OECD regards China as an important cooperation partner, and that the DAC looks forward to expanding policy dialogue and experience sharing with the CIDCA in aid effectiveness and transparency, continuously improving work on data statistics and monitoring mechanisms, and helping developing countries achieve sustainable development.
