Luo Zhaohui, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Nguyen Minh Vu, permanent deputy minister of foreign affairs of Vietnam, in Beijing on Dec 9.
Luo said that China and Vietnam are friendly socialist neighbors connected by mountains and rivers, and enjoy a "comrades and brothers" friendship. Under the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two parties and countries, China and Vietnam have joined hands to build a China-Vietnam community with a shared future with strategic significance, opening a new chapter in China-Vietnam relations in the new era, he said. The CIDCA attaches great importance to bilateral development cooperation, and is willing to continue to promote cooperation with Vietnam in such areas as cross-border railways, smart ports, social welfare and human resources development, and jointly promote the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the Global Development Initiative in Vietnam, he added.
Nguyen said that Vietnam actively supports the China-proposed BRI and the three global initiatives (the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative). He thanked China for its long-term support to the economic and social development and the improvement of people's livelihoods in his country, and pledged to jointly implement the key consensus reached between the leaders of the two countries, continue to promote bilateral development cooperation, and contribute to the building of a strategically significant Vietnam-China community with a shared future.
Directors-general of the CIDCA's First Department of Regional Affairs Shou Hailong and Department of International Cooperation Li Ming also attended the meeting.
