Hu Zhangliang, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), attended an international seminar on Red Cross Resilient Communities in Guiyang, Southwest China's Guizhou province, on Dec 11.
The seminar focused on the theme of building resilient communities against the backdrop of climate change and new type of urbanization. Vice-Chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee He Wei, who is also president of the Red Cross Society of China (RCSC), gave a keynote speech. Other speakers included officials from the RCSC, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and the Guizhou provincial government.
In his address, Hu spoke highly of the RCSC's contributions to the implementation of the Global Development Initiative. He also introduced the CIDCA's cooperation with the RCSC, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, and the International Committee of the Red Cross in areas such as disaster prevention and mitigation, public health, and community development. In conclusion, he called for joint efforts of all parties to build a more resilient future.
