CIDCA chairman meets with Egypt’s foreign minister

Luo Zhaohui, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Badr Abdel Aty in Beijing on Dec 13.

Luo noted that 2024 marks the China-Egypt year of partnership and the 10th anniversary of the establishment of China-Egypt comprehensive strategic partnership. Under the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries, bilateral relations have achieved leapfrog development, yielding fruitful results, he said. The CIDCA is ready to work closely with Egypt's ministries of foreign affairs and international cooperation to implement the important consensus reached between the two heads of state and the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, deepen pragmatic cooperation in various development fields and promote the common development of the Global South, he added.

Aty thanked China for its long-term support for Egypt's economic and social development and improvement of people's livelihood, and expressed readiness to work closely with China to promote the Belt and Road cooperation and the implementation of the Global Development Initiative under the guidance of the consensus reached by the two heads of state, and constantly expand the scope of bilateral development cooperation in a bid make new contributions to the development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

The two sides also exchanged views on specific cooperation projects.

Directors-general of the CIDCA's First Department of Regional Affairs Shou Hailong and Department of International Cooperation Li Ming, as well as Egyptian Ambassador to China Assem Hanafi also attended the meeting.
