Luo Zhaohui, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Khalilur Rahman, high representative of the chief adviser of the government of Bangladesh, in Kunming, Southwest China's Yunnan province, on Dec 16. Rahman was in Kunming to attend the third China-Indian Ocean Region Forum on Blue Economy Development Cooperation.
Luo said China and Bangladesh are neighboring countries that enjoy a longstanding friendship, and the Belt and Road cooperation between the two countries has yielded fruitful results, bringing tangible benefits to the two peoples. Noting that next year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Bangladesh, Luo said the CIDCA is ready to strengthen cooperation with Bangladesh, promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and the implementation of the Global Development Initiative, and push bilateral friendly cooperative relations to a new level.
Rahman thanked China for its long-term assistance to Bangladesh's economic development and improvement in people's living standards, and pledged to continue to work closely with the Chinese side to deepen practical cooperation in various fields and push for more results of the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.
The two sides also discussed specific development cooperation issues. Directors-general of the CIDCA's First Department of Regional Affairs Shou Hailong and Department of International Cooperation Li Ming, as well as head of the Global Development Promotion Center Tang Ying also attended the meeting.
