Luo Zhaohui, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment of Vietnam Tran Quoc Phuong in Lan Son Province, Vietnam, on Dec 18.
Luo said that China and Vietnam are friendly socialist neighbors connected by mountains and rivers, with frequent high-level exchanges and fruitful development cooperation outcomes. The CIDCA is willing to work with Vietnam to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the Communist Party of China and the Communist Party of Vietnam and of the two countries, accelerate the building of the cross-border smart port project between China and Vietnam, and facilitate cooperation projects such as people's livelihood projects in northern Vietnam and the Luban Workshop, in a bid to support the economic and social development and improvement of people's living standards in Vietnam, he said.
Tran lauded the fraternal relations between the two countries and thanked China for its long-term support and assistance to Vietnam. He said that Vietnam is ready to deepen pragmatic cooperation with China in such fields as smart port development, people’s livelihoods and vocational education under the guidance of the important consensus reached between the leaders of the two parties and countries, so as to deepen the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.
The two sides exchanged views on specific cooperation projects and signed a memorandum of understanding on accelerating the construction of the smart port.
Prior to the meeting in Vietnam, Luo met with leading officials of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region in its capital Nanning, where they discussed implementing cooperation agreements between the CIDCA and Guangxi and the support for Guangxi’s connectivity to Vietnam in terms of infrastructure and smart port development.
Luo also visited the old site of a China-aided school for Laos in Nanning and border ports between China and Vietnam.
