A completion ceremony for the new side building of Ghana's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, built with aid from China, was held on Dec 17. Ghana's President Nana Akufo-Addo, Foreign Minister Shirley Ayorkor Botchway and Deputy Foreign Minister Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong, as well as Chinese Ambassador to Ghana Tong Defa, attended the ceremony.
The Ghanaian leaders thanked China for its long-term help in Ghana's economic and social development, and pledged to solidify pragmatic cooperation with China under the framework of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).
Tong introduced the outcomes of the FOCAC Beijing Summit, and said that the Foreign Ministry building is the latest milestone in the development of China-Ghana relations and the deepening of mutual friendship, and a strong manifestation of China's construction speed and quality. China is ready to work with Ghana to actively implement the three China-proposed initiatives (the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative) and the outcomes of the FOCAC Beijing Summit, promote continuous development of bilateral strategic partnership, and bring more benefits to the people of both countries, he added.
