Luo Zhaohui, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Zhao Bing, China representative of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), in Beijing on Dec 23, 2024.
Luo said that ensuring food security is a key part of the China-proposed Global Development Initiative (GDI), as well as a major goal of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The CIDCA shares common visions and goals with the WFP and the bilateral cooperation has yielded fruitful results, he said. Hopefully, the two sides will tap their respective strengths, intensify resource coordination, expand cooperation areas, and diversify cooperation and publicity methods so as to advance the implementation of the GDI and the UN 2030 Agenda in an integrated manner, he added.
Zhao thanked the CIDCA for its long-term support. He said that the GDI is an accelerator in achieving the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and that the WFP is willing to further align work with the CIDCA, strengthen and expand project cooperation, carry out joint surveys, and share China's advanced technologies and experiences to contribute to food security at the global scale.
The two sides also exchanged views on potential cooperation matters for the coming year.
Vice-Chairman of the CIDCA Zhao Fengtao, Director-General of the CIDCA's Department of International Cooperation Li Ming, acting Director-General of the CIDCA's Department of General Affairs Zhang Lihua, and head of the CIDCA's Global Development Promotion Center Tang Ying also attended the meeting.
