In response to a request from the government of Vanuatu and as a gesture of solidarity from the Chinese people to the people of Vanuatu, the Chinese government sent a shipment of earthquake relief supplies in a chartered civilian flight on the evening of Jan 1, said Li Ming, spokesperson for the China International Development Cooperation Agency, on Jan 2.
The supplies, including tents, solar lamps, medical materials and food, aim to meet the pressing daily needs of those affected by the disaster. The shipment arrived on Jan 2 local time.
