Remarks by Chairman Luo Zhaohui at New Year Reception of the China House of Foreign-Aid Programs Trainees

Ambassadors and representatives of UN Agencies in China,

Trainees of China foreign aid programs,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Good evening!

It's my great honor to host today's Reception. As Christmas Day and New Year Day just passed, we can't wait to celebrate the Chinese traditional Lunar New Year of Snake within 20 days sharp. 

I am regrettable we don't have fireworks tonight, but you are most welcomed with full of joy and good luck from CIDCA.

One of the major jobs of CIDCA is focusing on Human Resources Development. Last year, President Xi Jinping announced nearly 200 thousand new quota of foreign trainees on different occasions. CIDCA is working hard to implement the targets. In collaboration with the All-China Women's Federation, CIDCA has set up the Exchange and Training Base of Global Women's Development Cooperation last year in Beijing. CIDCA has also provided PhD and Master degrees to foreign students as usual. All the trainees and students study very hard and enjoy their lives in China. After improving their personal careers, they become bigger contributors for their own countries, and civilian ambassadors between China and their homes. We appreciate and are grateful to trainees and students.

In the year of Snake, CIDCA will arrange more than 2 thousand training programs for more than 50 thousand people. We appreciate foreign governments for sending their darling kids to China for studies. We will take care of them. And foreign ambassadors and embassies in Beijing have done great job on these. 

Of course, we know that it's impossible to deliver these training missions, without the full support of Chinese universities, academic institutions, and government agencies. We appreciate what you've done so much.

Just before the Reception, CIDCA hosted the briefing meeting on the Global Development and South-South Cooperation Fund (GDF). CIDCA has not only simplified the application procedures, but also cuts short approval time of the GDF. UN agencies have done great job to cooperate with us on the GDF. We are on same page to implement the SDGs and Global Development Initiative. 

By the way, I would like to thank you again for visiting Pengshui County, Chongqing to participate in the Beautiful Countryside Construction with me last November. Your following-up actions are very precious.

In Chinese culture, Snake symbolizes agility and wisdom. Let's shoulder by shoulder, hand in hand, through foreign aid training programs and GDF, make the world better and the people wiser.
