The China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) held a Chinese New Year reception for China-aid program trainees in Beijing on Jan 9. The CIDCA leadership, led by Chairman Luo Zhaohui, Vice-President of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) Huang Xiaowei, and Deputy Secretary-General of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Zhang Maoyu attended the event. The event also served as a briefing session on the Global Development and South-South Cooperation Fund.
In his speech, Luo said human resources development cooperation is a major aspect of the CIDCA's work. The agency is striving to materialize China's promise to offer 200,000 training opportunities to countries around the world, he said. In 2025, the CIDCA will roll out over 2,000 training programs for more than 50,000 people.
He also noted that the CIDCA set up the Exchange and Training Base for Global Women's Development Cooperation in collaboration with the ACWF last year, and will continue to provide high-quality seminars and diploma education for foreign trainees.
In conclusion, Luo extended sincere appreciation to all the trainees, universities, think tanks, government departments, foreign diplomats and representatives of international organizations in China for their hard work and support for the CIDCA in 2024.
Huang thanked the CIDCA and related organizations for their care and contributions to affairs related to women and children, and pledged to work with all parties to make unremitting efforts to promote the comprehensive development of women and international development cooperation.
Barbados' Ambassador to China Hallam Henry, Cuban Ambassador Alberto Blanco Silva, Uzbek Ambassador Farhod Arziev, the China Representative for the United Nations Industrial Development Organization Stephen Kargbo, and a trainee representative from Botswana all delivered speeches at the event. They all lauded the contributions of China's foreign-aid training to capacity building in developing countries, and pledged to work with China to jointly implement the Global Development Initiative and the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The event was hosted by the CIDCA and undertaken by the Exchange and Training Base for Global Women's Development Cooperation. More than 200 people from over 40 countries, including foreign trainees, foreign diplomats and representatives of international organizations in China, as well as representatives of relevant Chinese government departments and universities, attended the event.
