CIDCA chairman meets with foreign affairs adviser of Bangladeshi interim government

Luo Zhaohui, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Adviser for Foreign Affairs of the Interim Government of Bangladesh Touhid Hossain in Beijing on Jan 21.

Luo said that China and Bangladesh are neighboring countries with a longstanding friendship. The two countries have established a comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation, and carried out fruitful Belt and Road cooperation, bringing tangible benefits to both peoples, he noted. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Bangladesh, bringing new opportunities for the development of bilateral relations, he said. The CIDCA is ready to strengthen development cooperation with the Bangladeshi side, advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and the implementation of the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative, and coordinate the implementation of major landmark projects and small-yet-smart livelihood projects, to push bilateral cooperation to a new level, he added. 

Touhid thanked China for its assistance in economic development and improvement of living standards in Bangladesh since the establishment of bilateral ties. He pledged continuous close coordination with the Chinese side to deepen pragmatic cooperation in such fields as infrastructure, medical care, poverty reduction, and human resources development, and strive for more outcomes of the Bangladesh-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership. 

The two sides held detailed discussions on specific cooperation projects. 

Vice-Chairman of the CIDCA Liu Junfeng, Director-General of the CIDCA's First Department of Regional Affairs Shou Hailong and Deputy Director-General of the CIDCA's Department of International Cooperation Guan Zhiyong, as well as officials from Bangladesh's ministries of commerce, water resources and finance, also attended the meeting.
