Luo Zhaohui, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with United Nations (UN) Resident Coordinator in China Siddharth Chatterjee and Representative of the UN World Food Programme in China Zhao Bing in Beijing on Feb 13.
Luo said that China firmly upholds and practices genuine multilateralism, is ready to increase resource input in global development cooperation to narrow the North-South gap, and will continue to support the UN in playing a key role in promoting sustainable development. Noting that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the founding of the UN and the 75th anniversary of the beginning of China's foreign assistance programs, Luo said the CIDCA is willing to strengthen cooperation with the UN and its specialized agencies in areas such as project design, philosophy promotion, personnel exchanges and event organization, so as to jointly promote the implementation of the Global Development Initiative and the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and build a community with a shared future for mankind.
Chatterjee and Zhao thanked the CIDCA for its long-term support, and said the UN is willing to coordinate the technical, financial and channel advantages of its relevant agencies, and work with the CIDCA to deepen pragmatic cooperation, strengthen personnel exchanges, and promote China's development experiences in a bid to contribute to the common development and prosperity of the world.
The two sides also discussed the present global development cooperation situation.
Officials from the CIDCA's departments of international cooperation and personnel also attended the meeting.
