China provides more humanitarian assistance to Gaza Strip

On Feb 17, the Office of the People's Republic of China to the State of Palestine and the Palestinian Ministry of Social Development signed an exchange of notes on a new batch of emergency humanitarian assistance to the Gaza Strip, a project initiated by the China International Development Cooperation Agency.

 Li Xin, charge d 'affaires of the office, said that the aid is an important move by China to implement the measures it announced for Palestinian assistance in 2024. Specifically, China will cooperate with the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization to provide food packages to 60,000 families in Gaza.

Since the outbreak of the conflict in Gaza, China has provided emergency humanitarian assistance to Gaza in multiple batches. Regardless of the situation, China will continue to firmly support the just cause of the Palestinian people to restore their legitimate national rights and push for an early and just settlement of the Palestinian issue on the basis of the two-state solution, he said.

Samah Abuoun Hamad, Palestinian minister of social development, said that the Palestinian government appreciates China's just position of consistent and firm support for Palestine, and thanks China's assistance in various forms. It looks forward to China playing a greater role in promoting regional peace and stability, she added.

She also said the aid was of great importance, which is expected to bring hope to people in the region.
