Grenadian Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell, the minister of agriculture, and local farmers attended a handover ceremony for a Chinese agricultural technical assistance program on March 27.
Mitchell thanked China for the assistance, saying bilateral cooperation in agricultural technology has brought significant progress to Grenada, with increased agricultural output and a more developed rural economy. Grenada will properly manage and utilize the ancillary program of the Chinese assistance and maximize its benefits, he said, adding that he looked forward to more cooperation with China.
Following the ceremony, Chinese representatives handed over a range of tissue culture experimental instruments, including laminar flow hoods, autoclaves, centrifuges, cell analyzers and tissue culture incubators.
Under the ancillary program, eight Chinese experts will work at the La Sagesse demonstration zone in Grenada, introducing high-quality seed varieties and seedlings, conducting relevant experiments, demonstrations and promotion of advantageous varieties, and carrying out technical training. The program also includes the provision of matching agricultural machinery and experimental instruments.
