Zhao Fengtao, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Madagascar's Minister of Foreign Affairs Rafaravavitafika Rasata in Tananarive on April 25.
Zhao said that Madagascar is an important country in Africa and the Indian Ocean region and an important partner of China. Under the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries, bilateral cooperation has yielded fruitful results in areas including agriculture, healthcare, transportation, energy, communication, culture and sports, he said. The CIDCA is ready to work with Madagascar to implement the outcomes of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Beijing Summit, advance the implementation of the Global Development Initiative (GDI), and the development of the China-Madagascar comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation, in a bid to benefit people of both countries, he added.
Rasata thanked the Chinese government and people for their long-term support for Madagascar. The government of Madagascar attaches great importance to its relations with China, cherishes the bilateral cooperation outcomes, and will proactively participate in the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative and GDI in order to contribute to the high-quality development of practical bilateral cooperation, she added.
Chinese Ambassador to Madagascar Ji Ping and Deputy Director-General of the CIDCA's Department of International Cooperation Guan Zhiyong also attended the meeting.
