Chen Xiaodong, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Carlos Hernandez, president of the Central American Parliament, in Beijing on May 14.
The Central American Parliament is committed to political stability and socioeconomic development of the region as well as advancing the development of friendly relations with China, Chen said. China is ready to work with the Central American Parliament to jointly implement the five major programs between China and the Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) countries proposed by China at the just-concluded fourth ministerial meeting of the China-CELAC (the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States) Forum, join hands with Central American countries to safeguard international justice and the common interests of Global South countries, and make greater contributions to enhancing the friendship between China and Central American countries, Chen added.
Hernandez thanked China for its support for the work of the Central American Parliament. He spoke highly of the development cooperation outcomes between China and Central American countries, which he believed reflected China's commitments as a responsible major power. The Central American Parliament looks forward to deepening cooperation with China on the basis of the one-China principle to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results, he added.
