CIDCA chairman meets with acting foreign minister of Afghanistan

Chen Xiaodong, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi in Beijing on May 22.

Noting that China and Afghanistan are traditional friendly neighboring countries, Chen said China has always attached importance to developing bilateral relations and deepening practical cooperation. In recent years, China has continuously provided assistance within its means to the economic reconstruction, social development and improvement of people's livelihoods in Afghanistan, Chen said, adding that China is willing to work with Afghanistan to accelerate development cooperation to better benefit the two countries and their people.

Muttaqi thanked China for its assistance in post-war reconstruction and the improvement of people's livelihoods in his country. He pledged to maintain close communication with the CIDCA, continue to deepen bilateral development cooperation and strive for more cooperation results.

The two sides also held in-depth discussions on specific cooperation projects.
