Chen Xiaodong, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency, held separate meetings with Ilza Amado Vaz, foreign minister of Sao Tome and Principe, and Rasata Rafaravavitafika, foreign minister of Madagascar, in Changsha, Central China's Hunan province, on June 11. The ministers are in Changsha to attend the Ministerial Meeting of Coordinators on the Implementation of the Follow-up Actions of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC). Chen highlighted that the Chinese president attaches great importance to the meeting and sent a congratulatory letter, which underscored the crucial bond of solidarity and cooperation between China and Africa. The letter also announced China's measures in further expanding opening-up and cooperation with Africa, providing strategic guidance to the joint efforts in advancing modernization and building the all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future for the new era.
China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi put forward a five-point proposal at the opening ceremony of the meeting, which laid a solid foundation for accelerating the implementation of the FOCAC Beijing Summit outcomes and for a successful convening of the meeting, Chen said.
Since the resumption of diplomatic relations between China and Sao Tome and Principe, the two countries have supported each other with mutual respect and mutual trust, Chen said. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Madagascar, the political mutual trust has continued to deepen with pragmatic cooperation yielding fruitful results, Chen noted. China is ready to work with Sao Tome and Principe and Madagascar to jointly implement the consensus reached between leaders of the countries, promote traditional friendship, and deepen strategic cooperation in a bid to elevate bilateral ties to new heights, he added.
Vaz and Rasata said the congratulatory letter from the Chinese president has sent out a common voice of solidarity and cooperation between China and Africa, responded to Africa's beautiful aspiration for development and prosperity, and charted the course for future cooperation between China and their countries, and Africa as a whole.
They thanked China for its concrete support for the development of their countries, and pledged to deepen cooperation with China. They vowed to firmly support each other on issues concerning each other's core interests and major concerns, and jointly implement the outcomes of the FOCAC Beijing Summit, in order to benefit the people of Africa and China.
