Chen Xiaodong, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency, held separate meetings with Somali Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Abdisalam Abdi Ali and Minister of Economy and Finance of Mauritania Sid'Ahmed Ould Bouh in Changsha, Central China's Hunan province, on June 12. The ministers are in Changsha to attend the Ministerial Meeting of Coordinators on the Implementation of the Follow-up Actions of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).
Chen mentioned that last year, the Chinese president met respectively with the presidents of Somalia and Mauritania on the sidelines of the FOCAC Beijing Summit, and jointly announced the decision to elevate bilateral relations with the two countries to strategic partnership, charting a course for the future development of bilateral relations with them. China is ready to collaborate with both nations to comprehensively implement the key consensus reached between China and the two countries, deepen political mutual trust, strengthen solidarity and cooperation, and advance development cooperation for a steady development of bilateral ties, he said.
Chen stated that the coordinators meeting has concluded with full success, providing strong planning and guidance for the implementation of the outcomes of the FOCAC Beijing Summit. The China-Africa Changsha Declaration on Upholding Solidarity and Cooperation of the Global South demonstrates the firm stance of China and Africa to jointly address global challenges and safeguard the common interests of the Global South, he added.
The list of outcomes of the meeting containing 35 items in 10 categories demonstrates China's action in honoring its commitment, he said, adding that the 4th China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo (CAETE) opened on the same day with unprecedented grandness, and has become an important platform for promoting China-Africa cooperation since its inception 6 years ago.
Ali and Ould Bouh welcomed the successful convening of the coordinators meeting and the opening of the CAETE. The meeting demonstrated China's confidence and resolution in advancing the implementation of the FOCAC Beijing Summit outcomes and facilitating high-quality development of the China-Africa cooperation, they said, pledging to deepen traditional friendship with China, strengthen pragmatic cooperation, and jointly build the all-weather Africa-China community with a shared future for the new era.
