CIDCA chairman meets with foreign ministers of Benin, Mali and Cameroon

Chen Xiaodong, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency, held separate meetings with Foreign Minister of Benin Shegun Adjadi Bakari, Foreign Minister of Mali Abdoulaye Diop, and Foreign Minister of Cameroon Lejeune Mbella Mbella in Changsha, Central China's Hunan province, on June 11. The ministers are in Changsha to attend the Ministerial Meeting of Coordinators on the Implementation of the Follow-up Actions of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).

Chen said the Chinese president sent a congratulatory letter to the meeting, speaking highly of the FOCAC's achievements in the past 25 years. The letter also announced China's new measures in promoting high-quality China-Africa cooperation, clarifying specifically the key fields in implementing the FOCAC 10 partnership actions, and charting the course for building the all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future for the new era, he said.

The China-Africa Changsha Declaration on Upholding Solidarity and Cooperation of the Global South sent a clear message to the international community that both China and Africa are committed to upholding multilateralism, adhering to fairness and justice, and safeguarding the common interests of the Global South, he added.

Chen said China and Benin are good friends and partners, boasting high-level bilateral relations, and China and Mali have maintained long-term friendship and the relations between the two countries have been continuously developing. Cameroon is an important partner of China in Africa, and the friendship between the two countries is deeply rooted in people's hearts, he noted. China will further deepen cooperation with the three countries in development fields, and carry out more people's livelihoods projects to benefit the people of the countries, he said.

Bakari, Diop, and Mbella all thanked China for its support to the economic and social development of their countries. They reiterated their firm adherence to the one-China principle and support to China for safeguarding its core interests, as well as their commitment to working with China to promote the establishment of a fair and equitable international governance system. They also pledged to actively participate in the China-proposed initiatives including the Global Development Initiative and the Belt and Road Initiative, and jointly implement the outcomes of the FOCAC Beijing Summit for common development.
