CIDCA chairman meets with heads of foreign affairs of South Sudan, Libya and Algeria

Chen Xiaodong, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency, held separate meetings with Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of South Sudan Monday Semaya Kumba, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation at the Government of National Unity of the State of Libya Taher Al-Baour, and Secretary of State to the Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs in charge of African Affairs Bakhta Selma Mansouri in Changsha, Central China's Hunan province, on June 11. The officials are in Changsha to attend the Ministerial Meeting of Coordinators on the Implementation of the Follow-up Actions of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).

Chen said Chinese President Xi Jinping attached great importance to the meeting and had sent a congratulatory letter, where he announced that China would implement zero-tariff measures for 100 percent of tariff lines for 53 African countries with diplomatic relations with China, demonstrating the solidarity and friendship between China and Africa.

President Xi also reiterated that China is willing to work with the African side to advance the six modernization initiatives and thoroughly implement the FOCAC 10 partnership actions, charting the course for building the all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future for the new era, he said.

The China-Africa Changsha Declaration on Upholding Solidarity and Cooperation of the Global South sent a clear message of defending international fairness and justice and common interests of Global South countries, which is bound to have a major impact, he added.

Chen said that China and South Sudan have always been good friends and partners with mutual respect and seeking common development, China and Libya have always supported each other and treated each other with sincerity, and the China-Algeria relations are distinguished by their historical significance, exemplary nature and mutual benefits. China is willing to further enhance friendship with the three countries, strengthen communication and alignment of development strategies, expand practical cooperation in various fields, and create new prospects for relations between China and the three countries, he added.

Monday, Taher and Mansouri said that the coordinators meeting further consolidated consensus and highlighted the strategic and important nature of China-Africa relations. The congratulatory letter from President Xi is inspiring, they said, adding that Africa recognizes and supports the Changsha Declaration, and commends China's commitment to multilateralism and unity and cooperation among the Global South. They thanked China for its long-term support to their countries, and pledged to join hands with China in safeguarding multilateralism, deepen cooperation in various fields under the FOCAC framework, and strive for the continuous development of bilateral relations with China and Africa-China relations as a whole.
