CIDCA chairman meets with FMs of Uganda, Malawi and economy minister of Comoros

Chen Xiaodong, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency, held separate meetings on June 11 with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uganda Jeje Odongo, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malawi Nancy Tembo, and Minister of Economy, Industry, Investment, and Economic Integration of Comoros Moustoifa Hassani Mohamed in Changsha, Central China's Hunan province. The ministers are in Changsha to attend the Ministerial Meeting of Coordinators on the Implementation of the Follow-up Actions of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC). 

Chen said the Chinese president attaches great importance to the meeting and sent a congratulatory letter that announced China's new measures in expanding opening-up and cooperation with Africa. It emphasized China's commitment to implementing the FOCAC 10 partnership actions and advancing the six modernization initiatives, charting the course for the high-quality China-Africa cooperation and the building of the all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future for the new era, he added.

Chen said China and Uganda have always treated each other with mutual respect, trust and support, China-Malawi relations have maintained steady and healthy development since the establishment of bilateral ties, and China and Comoros have adhered to mutual respect and mutual assistance, setting an example of solidarity and cooperation between countries of different sizes. China is willing to work with the three countries and take this meeting as an opportunity to closely align the implementation of the outcomes of the FOCAC Beijing Summit with the development strategies of the three countries, deepen cooperation in development fields, and carry out more projects benefiting people's livelihoods, to inject new impetus into the development of relations between China and the three countries as well as China-Africa relations, he said.

Odongo, Tembo, and Moustoifa lauded the success of the meeting, which, they said, has set a solid foundation for the future Africa-China cooperation. Uganda, Malawi and Comoros attach great importance to developing relations with China and firmly support China's core interests, they said. They thanked China for its long-term support to their countries and pledged to actively participate in Belt and Road cooperation, and to work with China in building a closer Africa-China community with a shared future and safeguarding the common interests of Africa, China and the Global South countries.
