Chinese Ambassador to Colombia Zhu Jingyang met on June 16 with Eleonora Betancur González, director of the Colombian Presidential Agency of International Cooperation, and signed the Memorandum of Understanding between China and Colombia on Jointly Implementing the 2025 Human Resources Development Cooperation Plan on behalf of the China International Development Cooperation Agency.
Zhu said the MoU, as an outcome of President Gustavo Petro's visit to China, is another example of China and Colombia strengthening bilateral relations and advancing China-Latin America and South-South cooperation. The two sides will maintain close communication, implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state and comprehensively promote cooperation in capacity building under the framework of human resources development cooperation, he added.
Betancur expressed her appreciation to the Chinese government for the annual provision of abundant scholarships to Colombian candidates. Colombia is willing to work with China to continuously consolidate the foundation of cooperation, invite outstanding individuals from various sectors in Colombia to participate in training programs in China, and promote the alignment of development strategies of the two countries, to achieve common prosperity, she said.
Also attending the signing ceremony of the MoU were representatives from the Colombian National Police and the Colombian association of trainees in China.
