The Institute of South-South Cooperation and Development held its graduation ceremony for Class 2025 at Peking University on June 21. Vice-Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency Zhao Fengtao, Deputy Party Secretary of Peking University Jiang Guohua, and President Huang Yiping of the institute attended the event and delivered remarks.
Zhao noted that China established the Institute of South-South Cooperation and Development 10 years ago at a juncture in the development of the times. The past 10 years have witnessed new changes in the Global South with new opportunities presented by China, he noted. The institute has become an important platform for global governance exchanges and a talent cultivation base, having trained over 400 outstanding graduates with doctoral and master's degrees, according to Zhao. As a natural member of the Global South, China will enhance exchanges on governance with its Global South partners, promote strategic alignment and deepen practical cooperation, and provide new impetus for the Global South through Chinese modernization, he said.
Zhao also spoke of his hope for the trainees to be practitioners transforming the knowledge into concrete actions for mutual learning among civilizations and common prosperity, to be drivers of global development striving to innovate models of international development cooperation to better implement the Global Development Initiative, and to be ambassadors of friendship between China and other countries, carrying forward the deep-rooted friendship fostered at the institute and spreading the seeds of international goodwill.
