Zhao Fengtao, vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with President of Global Policy and Advocacy of the Gates Foundation Gargee Ghosh in Beijing on July 1.
Acknowledging the great potential for cooperation between the two agencies in international development, Zhao said that the CIDCA is willing to build on cooperation with the foundation in the past by improving planning, adopting comprehensive policies, expanding cooperation scope, innovating cooperation models, and strengthening project branding. Efforts will be made to drive more pragmatic cooperation projects with a focus on health and wellness, in a bid to jointly implement the Global Development Initiative and the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, he said.
Ghosh acknowledged the CIDCA as an important partner of the foundation and pledged to jointly plan landmark projects with the CIDCA, share China's advanced technologies and innovative products in areas such as health care and poverty reduction, expand the scale of cooperation, and enhance the impact of cooperation, in order to accelerate the realization of the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
