The China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany (BMZ) recently wrapped up a joint workshop at China Women's University in Beijing.
The event featured two programs on empowering women in Asian nations and enhancing the new media skills of female officials from countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative. Both programs are tripartite cooperative foreign assistance training programs specially designed and organized around the 2025 Global Summit of Women, which are significant for promoting the implementation of the Global Development Initiative and the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and for boosting women's development worldwide. More than 50 female officials, scholars, teachers and business representatives from 12 developing countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America and Pacific island countries took part in the programs.
During the programs, officials from the All China Women's Federation and the CIDCA introduced women's development in China and their achievements in participation of international development cooperation. Experts from the BMZ and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization shared with the trainees case studies on gender equality and women's empowerment. Trainees engaged in theoretical learning sessions focusing on China's national conditions, women's development, digital economy empowerment, and grassroots governance. They made field trips to North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, where they visited the "city brain" smart platform in Hohhot and a photovoltaic power generation application base as well as a media convergence center in Ordos. They also visited high-tech enterprises and live-streaming bases in Heze, East China's Shandong province, learning about China's practices in digital governance, green development, media convergence, and women's empowerment at the grassroots level. Their firsthand experiences of China's innovative practices in women's affairs and the protection of women's rights and interests have influenced their perspectives, inspiring them to use China's experiences for promoting the development of women's causes in their own countries.
