Chen Xiaodong, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), met with President of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) Kate Forbes in Beijing on Sept 4.
Chen said that the CIDCA and the IFRC have maintained close exchanges, complemented each other's strengths, and carried out a number of practical cooperation projects under the framework of the Global Development and South-South Cooperation Fund, with positive results achieved. He expressed his hope for further expanding bilateral cooperation in areas such as humanitarian assistance, disaster response and women and children, and for doing a sound job in implementing the Global Development Initiative and building a community with a shared future for humanity, so as to benefit more developing countries and their people.
Forbes spoke highly of China's contributions to world peace and development as well as international humanitarian causes. She said that the IFRC attaches great importance to exchanges and cooperation with the CIDCA and that it is willing to further leverage its global network and front-line human resource advantages to expand bilateral cooperation in areas such as humanitarian assistance, with focus on people's livelihood projects.
