Chen Xiaodong, chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency, met with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol in Beijing on Sept 16.
Chen said that the relations between China and Cambodia were forged by the older generation of leaders of the two countries and have withstood the tests of international vicissitudes. He added that China is willing to work with Cambodia to jointly implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, accelerate the alignment of development strategies, promote major cooperation projects, and make new contributions to building a closer China-Cambodia community with a shared future.
Sun, also the first vice-chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, said the traditional friendship between Cambodia and China has grown stronger over time. He expressed gratitude to China for its long-term support and assistance to Cambodia's economic and social development, and said that Cambodia will firmly adhere to the one-China principle and support the Belt and Road Initiative and the four major global initiatives proposed by China regardless of changes in the international situation. Cambodia stands ready to work with China to implement the outcomes of their leaders' recent meeting, continuously strengthen their iron-clad friendship and promote the solid development of the Cambodia-China all-weather community with a shared future, Sun added.
