Since February, when China started shipping via Jordan the 60,000 food packages it had promised in emergency humanitarian assistance to Gaza, around 55,000 packages have reached Gaza for distribution through the Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organization. Each package weighs 50 kilograms and contains essential food items such as rice, white sugar, cooking oil and canned foods, sufficient to meet the basic nutritional needs of a five-member family for one month.
The situation in Gaza remains highly volatile, with frequent and unpredictable changes in access policies for humanitarian supplies, resulting in significant operational uncertainty. Despite these complex challenges, China has closely monitored the regional developments and worked in close coordination with Jordanian authorities and international humanitarian organizations to overcome logistical and security obstacles. To date, about 90 percent of the aid has been delivered to war-affected populations in Gaza. The Chinese government will continue to closely follow the humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip, expedite the delivery of the remaining food packages, and ensure that this emergency assistance effectively fulfills its intended humanitarian purpose.
